Somewhere people still have time to enjoy life. They enjoy the outdoors year-round and see their neighbors around town. Since they don't worry about crime, or traffic, or bad weather, they spend their time becoming experts in living. Somewhere is here. Kerrville—in the Texas Hill Country.
Symphony. Stage. Opera. Dance. Kerrville has a rich mix of musicians, educators, sponsors, aficionados and talent. The combination makes for an active community calendar utilizing the area's many fine venues—Cailloux Center for the Performing Arts, Point Theater, Dietert Auditorium. And the musical organizations manage the talent well, including the Symphony of the Hills, Kerrville Performing Arts Society, Kerrville Folk Music Festival, the Hill Country Arts Foundation, and Playhouse 2000—to name just a few.
The Hill Country has long been a hub for the development of art and artists. Galleries, studios, exhibits and museums like the famed Museum of Western Art are abundant. The Kerr Arts and Cultural Center features exhibits and education. View a sculpture show, or learn water color or photography. The natural beauty here is an inspiration, as are the interesting people. Over 10 galleries operate here year-round.
Taking advantage of the outdoor lifestyle here, many organizations sponsor outdoor concerts and entertainment at the River Star Park and Louise Hays Park on the Guadalupe River. Bring your picnic basket and a lawn chair. Enjoy everything from 1940s Swing Music to a bell choir in the clean open air. We still celebrate the Fourth of July and Memorial Day here. Get ready for plenty of fireworks, flags, and salutes.
The Symphony of the Hills Association is committed to providing classical symphonic music to audiences throughout the Hill Country of Texas.
Arts and crafts are about the only industries around Kerrville. Since life is good, folks have a lot of time for avocations.
